Description Infos

This day trip takes you around several valleys of the Atlas Mountains all with varied landscapes and breathtaking views .

Starting with the Ourika valley we crossed several villages . This is a location popular with local Moroccans as the river Ourika provide a much cooler settings than Marrakech .
You have the option to stop for a camel ride at at leisurely pace in an arid landscape .

We then choose the village holding the local weekly farmers market on the way for a visit. It is a real eye opener where the locals gather weekly selling and buying local produce. Markets took place everyday except Wednesday where instead you have the option to visit the local Berber heritage Museum.

Along the way we stop at the Women Argan Oil Cooperative. This is the opportunity to discover this unique native nut from Morocco producing fantastic cooking and cosmetic oil after a quite labour intensive process. The cooperative is also a way of generating income and self esteem for some woman in the surrounding villages.

Then we have a mint tea pause by the mountain stream before heading off-road on the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. We take that route at leisurely pace and stop whenever you want for a photo opportunity or to give school furniture to the children we meet along the way , an you have the possibility to walk and soak up the calming fantastic views of the Atlas Mountains foothills.

Lunch setting is in a traditional Berber village with stunning views of the Atlas Mountains across the valley and Mount Toubkal : the highest peak in Northern Africa culminating at 4167 metres, and often snow capped.

You will be served homemade organic food : tomato salad, chicken tagine, couscous and fruits, and in the winter we have vegetable soup as starter. If you are vegeterian this can be cater for with 24 hours notice. After lunch we head off for the greener Asni valley where orchards lined the route.
